UCAC and Teacher Support Wales discuss an Education Manifesto for 2015-2020

UCAC have had a productive meeting with Sandra Taylor, Development Manager of Teacher Support Wales, in which we considered various challenges  facing the teaching profession. The discussion noted the charity's Education Manifesto for 2015-2020 which is a response to 'alarming findings' arising from their support services.
The five five policies relating to the well being of teachers are:

1. Ensure all staff are properly trained and supported to maintain a healthy workforce;
2. Implement a staff wellbeing policy in every institution;
3. Establish a framework of accountability that is supportive and informed by the profession;
4. Improve the status and perception of education professionals;
5. Pledge to speak up about the importance of staff wellbeing in education.

The principles are ones which complement the work of UCAC in seeking solutions for the ensuring that teacher workload is a priority issue for governments in Cardiff and Westminster as well as at regional and individual school level.
